Three fires burn around the Burnett

UPDATE: The fire near Nanango, which several firefighter crews were battling, is no longer a concern.

The grassfire along the D’Aguilar highway has been contained and under control.

Several crews are still attending the vegetation fire at Benarkin near Scott St.

There are currently six QFES crews on scene.

Firefighters are still monitoring the Hawkwood fire and the Ellesmere grass fire.

BREAKING: Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews are working to contain a large grass fire just outside of Nanango.

A QFES spokeswoman said the first crew arrived on scene just after 11am along Parsons Rd.

“The fire was about 10 acres in size,” she said.

“We have five crews currently working to maintain the vegetation fire.”

Across the region firefighters are currently monitoring four blazes around the Burnett region.

A vegetation fire is burning along Scott St at Benarkin.

This grass fire was first reported to QFES at 10.40am this morning.

Firefighters are also keeping an eye on a grass fire at Ellesmere.

The vegetation fire is burning along Kumbia Rd and initially started last Thursday.

Another grass fire is burning along Hawkwood Rd at Hawkwood near Gayndah.

Motorists and residents are urged to be cautious and drive to conditions.

Residents should close their doors and windows and keep medications close by if suffering from a respiratory condition.

If you believe your property is under threat, you should call 000 immediately.
