On Sunday 22 January, the South Burnett came together in Nanango to recognise some of the region’s best at the Australia Day Awards.

The South Burnett Regional Council Australia Day awards ceremony was a chance to champion some of the region’s community heroes.

Kingaroy -Winner: Karmen Cleveland (Nominees for the Kingaroy Award: Donald Davey, Karmen Cleveland (both absent).)

Karmen was not able to attend the day but she has given contributed a lot to the local area, whether it be through her P and C Presidency position at the Kingaroy State School, advocating long-term benefits for the community, planting and maintaining gardens, showing immense leadership, and continually looking for ways to improve and develop the learning environment for the students at the school.

She has been described as a local hero and her community has expressed their admiration, praise, and encouragement for all the work Karmen has achieved.
