I would like to wish all of Flynn a happy and safe Easter break.
If you are out and about this Easter, please take extra caution on our roads.
It’s critical for motorists to be extra vigilant due to the high volume of people travelling over the holiday period.
The best holidays are those where everyone stays safe and well, and that means taking road safety seriously at all times.
These holidays are a great opportunity for everyone to take a well-deserved break off the back of the start of a busy year, to reconnect with family and friends, and spend quality time together.
According to the Australian Road Safety Foundation, over 1,100 lives are tragically lost on Australian roads per year. This statistic is shockingly high.
Queensland Police will be conducting Operation Victor Easter, over the school holidays and Easter break from Saturday April 1 to Sunday April 16, which is expected to be an extremely busy time on our roads.
They will have high visibility on our roads, to keep motorists safe and to combat the fatal five.
Everyone can play their part to keep themselves and those around them safe on our roads, such as planning ahead, taking their time, sharing the driving, ensure that everyone is buckled up, stopping to rest and recover, and remaining aware of the conditions. School holiday periods always see an increase in traffic flow on our main roads and highways, with families keen on getting to their holiday destinations, so the key will be not to be in any rush and take your time.
As always, if you require any assistance with federal matters, my team and I are here to help.
My offices will be closed on the Easter Public Holidays, opening again on Tuesday, April 11.
