Community groups and businesses are invited to share their skills with the region’s youth.
South Burnett CTC Youth Crew will be hosting two Small Town Skills and Family Fun Day events during the Easter school holidays.
The first family fun day was launched last Monday, 3 April in Kumbia. The next will be held during Youth Week 2023 in Proston on Wednesday, 12 April from 10am to 5pm.
There will be free workshops and activities for all ages including laser tag, tennis lessons, first aid classes, baking classes, sewing, Indigenous art, bike repairs, Prep L classes, bath bomb making and floristry workshops plus fairy floss and snow cones.
South Burnett Youth Crew aims to deliver these Small Town Skills and Family Fun Days to all South Burnett small towns before the youth program finishes up in May 2024. There will be at least two small townships each school holidays.
These Youth Crew events are designed to encourage local young people to reconnect with their communities through a range of engaging activities such as bike repair classes, cooking workshops, gardening demonstrations, basic vehicle maintenance, life skills and other fun games for the whole family.
Community members, groups, local organisations and businesses have been invited to deliver different activities, stalls and workshops on a skill.
Anyone interested in running a skills session is not expected to stay for the entire day as there will be a schedule for demonstrations and workshops dependent on who is available when.
Those interested in hosting a skills workshop or stall at the Small Town Skills and Family Fun Day events will be required to have a current Blue Card. Email your expressions of interest to Kate: katem@sbctc.com.au
Transport to and from the events is available for youth by calling 4162 7788.
