A large grass fire in South Nanango has cut the D’Aguilar Highway off in both directions just after lunch today.

At about 12.50pm today, 9 May, the first of 6 Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews arrived at the scene, a spokesperson for the Service said.

Queensland Police Service officers are on the scene to deal with the blocked highway due to low visibility from the smoke.

The southern flank of the fire has been contained, with crews continuing to work on the east and north sides.

The fire is said to be moving in a northeast direction.

Crews have requested earth-moving gear to assist with containing the fire.

MORE TO COME.
