“There’s no business like show business” – Nanango Theatre Company agrees with this line from an old song, because for the past 43 years they have continuously introduced live theatre performances to our community.

Join us as Nanango Theatre Company Celebrates the history of Nanango with a 175th celebration to remember.
Working with the Palace Playwrights, the debut performance of ‘Tiaras at the Palace’ is set to take audiences on a rhyming and rhythmic tale of ‘Tiara Tilly’.
You’ll see colour and costumes and a kaleidoscope of Nanango history.
Performed by Pamela Walton, who is new to Nanango herself, we follow Tilly’s journey as she arrives at the Palace and makes her way to become a Lady of the town.
Local bar friend Joe, played by Shane Clegg, showcases the antics and flirty ways of Tilly; this amateur actor shows no fear as he delivers a fantastic performance and maybe even a laugh or two.
Director Neil Meilville has been hard at work with this cast, most of whom are new to the stage yet are already treading the boards like long-term professionals.
“It has been exciting to see the cast come together and work harmoniously to bring the story and their characters to life,” he said.
“It has been a privilege to work with Playwrights Denise Smith, Rae Burke and Janet Korknobel.”
Alongside Tiaras at the Palace, the night also plays host to ‘The Pram’, written by Queensland playwright Hugh O’Brien.
In 2023, Ashleigh Stone – played by Trish Spink – discovers a pram that has been locked away in her grandmother’s shed.
As the amateur detective tracks down the clues as to what happened and how she might be personally connected to those involved, we get flashbacks to 1919 when a baby is abducted from a park near Nanango Railway Station.
Fifty years later in the same spot, does a mother find her long-lost daughter?
With an emotionally driven story and strong characters, this cast does a magnificent job of highlighting significant historical details.
Directed by Ben Richardson, a seasoned director for Nanango Theatre Company, this mystery is sure to keep you on the edge of your seats.
A Gala Night is being held at the Nanango RSL on 19 May, with additional performances being held at the Nanango Theatre (corner of George and Elk Street) on Saturday 20 May at 2pm and 7pm, as well as the following weekend with shows on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 May at 7pm.
