The joy of music will be shared across the North Burnett next week.

Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, Camerata, is set to bring delight as they visit three North Burnett towns as part of their tour through regional Queensland.

The 15-piece orchestra will perform their free 90 minute evening show ‘Camerata in Concert’ at the Mundubbera Community Hall on Thursday, 30 May at 7.30pm and Monto Community Hall on Friday, 31 May at 7.30pm.

Camerata is set to also engage with audiences of all ages with a series of community activities lined up before the evening performances including kindergarten and senior citizens performances.

Camerata will also be joined for some encores by local performers and community musicians.

Camerata warmly invites musicians (instruments and singers of all ages and abilities) to join their community rehearsal and then perform with Camerata in the finale at the evening concerts.

The finale includes two iconic pieces especially arranged for the 2024 Regional Tour: Coldplay’s Viva La Vida and Beethoven’s Ode To Joy.

The rehearsal details are:

– Mundubbera Community Rehearsal: 5.30pm Thursday 30 May

– Monto Community Rehearsal: 5.30pm Friday 31 May

They will also visit Mt Perry on Saturday, 1 June at Saint Anne’s Church for a 10.15am special 60 minute concert where the musicians will explain to attendees how a chamber orchestra works and finish up with a chance for a Q and A.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Queensland Chamber Orchestra to the North Burnett,” North Burnett Mayor Les Hotz said.

“Having such an amazing program tour Mundubbera and Monto is not something that our residents have the opportunity to experience every day, it’s a real privilege to host Camerata.”

Camerata’s Artistic Director and leader, Brendan Joyce shared how the regional tour really invested in the places they visit.

“Every tour in Queensland is an exciting moment for us because so often we are meeting new people and places for the first time, but this tour is even better in that we are going to new places such as Monto, but visiting old friends in Biloela and Bundaberg,” he said.

“Camerata tours show the full breadth of our orchestra’s interests and abilities being equally at home in front of kindy kids, school students, people in their twilight years, collaborating with local artists or performing gala evening shows.”

The joyous program will feature works by the Italian Baroque violin virtuoso Locatelli, Dvorak’s radiant Serenade for Strings, and more, including a brand new composition by Camerata’s 2024 Emerging Composer-in-Residence, Alexandra Mison.

Camerata is delighted to premiere Mison’s piece in regional Queensland, following a long tradition of local audiences loving new music commissioned by Camerata.

This year, Mison’s work is inspired by her recent trip exploring the Biloela and Theodore regions, and will conjure evocative soundscapes in an exciting new work for string orchestra.

The tour is generously supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and North Burnett Regional Council.
