Have you got what it takes to be a part of the pig crew? Are you proud to live in ‘bacon country’ in the South Burnett?
Kingaroy BaconFest are looking for more pig-tastic, passionate volunteers for the food festival from 17 to 18 August.
Young Matti van Schyndel is this year’s Bacon Barn coordinator and encouraged local bacon fans to volunteer across the variety of roles needed to make the festival run.
“It’s going to be fun, there’s lots to do, just do it!” she said.
“It’ll be a weekend full of bacon.”
Volunteers are asked to do a minimum of a three-hour shift at the festival.
“It’ll be bacon-tastic,” Matti said.
Volunteer coordinator Amber Goldsmith agreed.
“We’re all a pretty passionate mob, it’s going to be a fun weekend with a really good vibe,” she said.
“With the community spirit, it’d be great to see that come back and although our committee has some great vibes, we can’t do it on our own”
Amber encouraged anyone interested to just get involved and give it a try.
“You only have to do a three hour shift… but by the time they do one shift I reckon they’ll want to stick around for some more because the atmosphere is just amazing,” she said.

Snag up your tickets
Bacon fans are also reminded that it is still not too late to ‘snag’ a ticket to some of BaconFest’s signature events.
On Friday, 16 August, the Wine and Swine cocktail party will kick off the festival with a Taste of Texas and a squealing good time.
With great pork and bacon on the menu and live music from the MisFitz Duo and Mr Q, you will be sure to get the trotters tapping, with tickets selling at $100 each.
On Sunday, 18 August the popular Long Table Breakfast will be back and will be held at Kingaroy’s Commercial Hotel this year with tickets set at $90 each.
The pork-tacular breakfast spread will get your Sunday off to a great start with a pretty pig deal, including a special bacon inspired mocktail.
Celebrity Chef Matt Golinski will be teaming up with Commercial Hotel Chef Brett Deans and his team to serve up an alternate drop of Pork and Bacon Shakshuka and an impressive spread of Pulled pork, bacon, pork sausage, spicy tomato stew, poached eggs and coriander homemade Turkish bread by Matt Golinski.
The breakfast spread will also offer a pork and avocado meal, alongside Sticky pork belly, avocado, sourdough, candied bacon, fetta crumble and lemon.
Of course, do not forget your $5 tickets for the other weekend activities such as the Rasher’s Rush Run or Ride on Saturday morning, the various bacon eating competitions or the special Sunday Pig’s Breakfast offering a more family-friendly breakfast option.
Single Day and weekend passes are also available for purchase before the weekend.
