Hold tight, there’s a storm coming to Nanango.

Sunshine Coast Lightning netball players are packing their bags to tour through several regional Queensland towns this August, including Nanango.

The 2024 Suncorp Regional Tour will see the players visit Nanango, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Innisfail and Cairns, delivering netball clinics at local netball associations in these regions.

Lightning Captain Steph Fretwell is looking forward to attending the Tour this year and connecting with regional netballers.

“The Suncorp Regional Tours are always a big highlight for me. Lightning is the only regional team in the Suncorp Super Netball so we’re really passionate about promoting our sport in regional communities like ours,” she said.

“There’s so much talent out in the regions and it’s awesome to have the opportunity to connect with these kids and show them where netball could take them.”

Each location includes a clinic for both 5-10 years and 11-17 years, with all clinic registrations priced at $30 per person.

The tour will visit Nanango Netball Association first on Friday, 9 August at the courts at 55 Appin Street West, Nanango.

Lightning Vice Captain Liz Watson will be there alongside Lightning players Cara Koenen and Mahalia Cassidy.

The 5-10 years session will run from 3.30pm to 5pm and the 11-17 years session will run from 5 to 6.30pm.
