Queensland Fire Department crews are battling a large-scale grass fire at Tansey, which has under current estimates engulfed an area of 50 hectares.
Firefighters rushed to a property on Rogash Road west of the Burnett Highway at around 1:30pm today, Thursday 27 February, responding to reports of a large grass fire.
The Queensland Fire Department originally received reports of a blaze measuring one square kilometre in size, but following their arrival, crews instead described the fire’s size as being half of the original estimates – around 50 hectares.
The fire burns in grassland throughout hilly terrain according to a map listing the blaze’s ‘hot spots’.
As of 2:30pm, a total of four QFD crews were working to ensure the safety of surrounding properties; currently no structures or people are under threat from the fire.
A spokesperson for the Queensland Fire Department was unable to confirm if crews had as-yet managed to bring the fire under control.
