STAY INFORMED: Storms in North Burnett

Mundubbera and Eidsvold residents are being urged to stay informed about a severe storm in the region.

This warning from North Burnett Regional Council was issued at 6pm on Monday, 10 March.

Slow-moving storms, in an extremely moist atmosphere, are continuing to produce heavy rainfall which could lead to flash flooding this evening in the warning area, including Mundubbera, Eidsvold and surrounding areas.

These storms may continue to redevelop, producing heavy rainfall over a long period of time.

The council advises all North Burnett residents to monitor the situation, as conditions could become dangerous.

For storm help, call the SES on 132 500 or download the SES Assistance QLD app.

Possible impacts in your area:

• Heavy rain will make it dangerous to drive.

• Flash flooding in some areas.

• The power could go out.

What you should do:

• Stay up to date because conditions could change overnight:

• Listen to your local radio station ABC Wide Bay 100.1FM or 855AM should conditions deteriorate

• Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.

• Decide what you will do if flooding starts. Where would you evacuate to.

• Find out how to get ready via Get Ready Queensland

• Stay out of rivers, creeks and flood water.

• If flooding starts, do not drive unless you have to.

If you are camping, caravanning or outdoors:

• Start securing your campsite.

• Be ready to move people, pets, camping gear and vehicles to shelter if dangerous storms come.

• If you’re outdoors, plan to return to your car, home or campsite. If you can’t, decide now where you will shelter if the storm comes.
