Cherbourg residents interested in a career as a park ranger or conservation specialist are urged to apply to an upcoming nine-month course at TAFE Queensland’s Cairns campus.
TAFE’s Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management commences on Monday 13 July, with participants set to learn about identifying, propagating and managing Australia’s flora over the course of nine months.
Completion of the Certificate will be on a full-time basis, with participants able to reside at the Cairns campus’s residential blocks for the duration of their studies.
Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council invited residents of the town to apply if they are looking to work as park rangers, land management officers or conservation specialists later in their career.
Participants may be able to make use of Queensland’s fee-free TAFE provisions, and also access ‘Away From Base’ funding to cover the costs of travel, accommodation and meals if they identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
