Truck rollover blocks road

A vital access road into Biggenden remains closed following a truck rollover on Monday morning.

First responders rushed to Maryborough Biggenden Road in the North Burnett at around 5:50am, where a timber truck had rolled onto its side.

The truck began spilling diesel fuel onto the road, with Queensland Fire Department firefighters working to clean up the spill and remove crash debris. The truck was not loaded with timber at the time of the crash.

Firies did not have to free the driver of the truck from the wreck.

A spokesperson for the Queensland Police Service reported a second vehicle was also involved in the rollover. According to the QPS, the driver of a car took evasive action in response to the crashing truck, which resulted in their vehicle leaving the road.

The Queensland Ambulance Service transported one person of as-yet unknown age and gender to Biggenden Hospital; a spokesperson for the organisation was unable to speak on the nature of the patient’s injuries.

QAS crews also assessed a second person at the scene who did not require transport to hospital.

At time of writing, Maryborough Biggenden Road near the Biggenden township remained closed to all traffic. At around 8am a tow vehicle arrived to remove the rolled-over truck, but police have not yet rescinded their road closure notice.
