Good rides in Goomeri

Contestants eagerly await their turn at the Goomeri New Year's Eve Rodeo.

Record numbers of contestants and spectators welcomed in 2021 with a bang at the Goomeri New Year’s Eve Rodeo last Thursday.

Goomeri and District Show Society vice president David Mawhinney said the junior divisions received over 100 individual rider nominations, clocking up over 250 nominations across all the junior events.

“It’s been great to see so many young riders come out and give rodeo ago this year,” he said.

“We were stocked to host another great New Year’s Eve rodeo event as we were a little concerned it wasn’t going to happen for us this year with Covid, but it all came together in time and it was a great night.”

Mawhinney said local riders Koby Ross and Cody Kelly had a particularly successful evening, managing to place in a number of events.
