Biggenden woman dies after fatal crash

A 40-year-old Biggenden woman has died following a two-vehicle crash in Brooweena, southeast of Biggenden.

Queensland Police Service said initial investigations indicated that around 2pm on Wednesday, 10 March, a sedan and a logging truck collided on Maryborough Biggenden Road.

This collision resulted in the sedan plunging off the Brooweena Bridge.

Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics treated the woman, before she was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

On Thursday morning, 11 March, the woman died as a result of her injuries.

The driver of the truck, a 40-year-old Tin Can Bay man, sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.

Please avoid the bridge at Maryborough Biggenden Rd, Brooweena, and seek alternate routes via Teebar Rd or Giggamen Rd.

QPS said the bridge is likely to be closed for an extended period.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
