Residents will have the opportunity to meet and greet the new midwives of the South Burnett Midwifery Group Practice this month.

A community event will be held in Memorial Park, Kingaroy from 9.30am to 11.30am on Thursday 10 June.

Darling Downs Health assistant director of nursing and midwifery, Jennifer Goodwin, encouraged all families to come along to the community event to learn more about their local MGP.

“We are excited to be able to offer this model of care to expectant mums and their families in the South Burnett,” Ms Goodwin said.

“An MGP means that pregnant women see a known midwife for their pregnancy, labour, birth and follow up care.

“This includes providing care, consultations and support in a women’s home or local hospital or health service, where possible.

“This approach to maternity service is seen as the ‘gold standard’ and we look forward to supporting women and their families across the South Burnett.”

The free community event will also include fun, family activities. For more information contact Kingaroy Hospital maternity on 4162 0327.
