The Burnett is well and alive with the Christmas spirit as towns across the region prepare for festive events. Burnett Today has compiled a list of Christmas events to help our readers make the most of the most wonderful time of the year.

Festive lights of the Burnett

Cruise around the region’s streets to enjoy the Christmas light trail, check out pages 22-23 and 37-38 for Burnett Today’s pull-through with all the top spots to check out in the 9 December edition.

Christmas at Kingaroy Shoppingworld

Head on down to Kingaroy Shoppingworld to snap a Covid-19 safe photo with Santa this festive season. Sessions are available most days leading up to Christmas Eve. Shoppers can also hit the shops in the mall on Sunday with trading hours extended until Christmas.

Kingaroy Christmas Carnival

Kick off the festive season with a visit to Memorial Park on Thursday, 9 December from 4pm to 9pm to enjoy the Christmas festivities. Due to wet weather conditions earlier in the week, the committee decided to downsize the carnival. This has meant no carnival rides will be available. However, $2 pony rides, a Santa appearance at 6.30pm, food stalls, and handmade Christmas markets, will make the carnival an event for the entire family to enjoy.

Murgon Christmas Festival

Children’s activities and carols will bring the South Burnett PCYC in Murgon to life on Friday, 10 December from 4.30pm to 9.30pm. The festival will also feature performances from the Beenleigh Baptist Church.

Santa comes to Mount Perry

Santa Claus will make an appearance at Mount Perry’s park on Saturday, 11 December, at 6pm. He promises free sweets for the kids as well as a sausage sizzle and gifts.

Christmas pottery sale at Ration Shed Museum

Barambah Pottery at Cherbourg’s Ration Shed Museum will be hosting a pottery sale on Monday, 13 December from 10am to 1pm. With great prices and unique designs on offer, the sale will be perfect to pick up some locally crafted Christmas presents.

Mundubbera Christmas carols

Carollers of all ages are welcome at Mundubbera’s Bicentennial Park on Tuesday, 14 December, for a 6pm start. Organisers of the event will announce the winners of the local Christmas lights competition, and there will be plenty of food, treats, and activities.

Nanango Christmas Carnival

Christmas stalls, Santa, choir, and singalongs will be on show for Nanango’s Christmas festivities on Thursday, 16 December from 5pm to 9pm. The Heritage Bank-sponsored event will also offer free rides, free lollies, ice blocks, and an epic firework display.

Cherbourg Christmas Carnival

On Friday 17 December the Cherbourg Sports Complex will come alive in the Christmas spirit. The event will run from 11am to 5pm and include fun for the whole family with rides from 1pm, Santa, presents, food stalls, snow cones, and fairy floss.

Monto’s Twilight Markets

Monto businesses will offer late-night trading and twilight markets on Friday 17 December. The event is set to commence after 5pm on Monto’s Newton Street.

Speedway Christmas Cup

The Kingaroy Speedway will start the Christmas races on Saturday, 18 December from 4pm onwards. With modified sedans, super sedans, legend cars, micro sprints, and wingless sprints all on show.

Biggenden Christmas Fair

Biggenden’s APEX Club will hold its annual Christmas Fair on Edward Street on Saturday, 18 December, starting at 5pm. Santa will make an appearance on a Biggenden fire truck, and there will be a variety of stalls, food, and live entertainment.

Proston Christmas Carnival

An evening of Christmas festivities will see the Proston Sportsground jolly in festive cheer on Saturday, 18 December from 5.30pm to 9pm. The event is free entry and will include a Santa appearance, food, refreshments, entertainment, and raffles.

Blackbutt Carols and Movie Night

Head on down to the Blackbutt Football Fields for an evening of Christmas-themed fun as the town gets into the festive spirit on Sunday, 19 December starting from 6.30pm. The carols and movie night event will kick off at 4pm and run till 9pm. Food and drinks will be available to purchase on the night.

Wondai Christmas Carnival

Wondai’s Mackenzie Street will come to life on Friday, 24 December, for the annual and beloved Christmas Eve carnival. The event starts at 5pm and includes a ham and goods wheel, Santa, ice blocks, and more.
