A special South Burnett Agricultural Network meeting will be held in Wondai this Thursday.

The meeting on Thursday, 4 August at 9am BIEDO will host the meeting at the Wondai Town Hall to update producers on Foot and Mouth and Lumpy Skin disease.

“South Burnett Regional Council have called on BIEDO to host a South Burnett Ag Network Meeting to keep our cloven-hoofed producers aware and alert of the Foot and Mouth and Lumpy Skin Disease,” BIEDO General Manager Kristy Board said.

“We will hear from John Higgins our local Principal Biosecurity Inspector, Animal Biosecurity and Welfare officer from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. It will be great to get a current update and listen to the insights that John will bring to the room.”

The forum will be a great opportunity to reinforce to growers to review their farm biosecurity plans.

“Ensure that they are keeping it relevant, up to date with the latest technologies and viewing biosecurity as active in their business planning processes,” Ms Board said.

“We want to reassure our community that we do not have either Foot and Mouth Disease or Lumpy Skin Disease present in our Australian herd at the moment due to the hard work of our country’s biosecurity officers.

“These diseases has been in existence and prevalent in our neighbours throughout Asia for many years now -however, it is an issue we are taking seriously by helping our community staying informed, alert and prepared.”

The forum will be held on Thursday, 4 August at 9am at the Wondai Town Hall.
