UPDATE:
Ergon Energy has reported that the issue behind a widespread power outage in the South Burnett and Gympie regions earlier this morning has been resolved.
Ergon’s Outage Finder service reports no further unplanned outages in the previously-affected area.
EARLIER:
Over 6,000 residents of the South Burnett and Gympie regions are currently without power as a result of a widespread unplanned outage of the Ergon Energy network.
Ergon reported that at approximately 5:57am this morning, Thursday 25 August, 66 towns and localities across the two regions lost power, leaving a total of 6,401 customers without electricity.
Affected towns include Wondai, Cherbourg, Proston and Murgon in the South Burnett, as well as Goomeri in the Gympie region.
Ergon has listed the estimated repair time for the incident as “unknown”, with repair crews reportedly in the area to find the fault responsible for the outage.
