Police have launched a homicide investigation into the deaths of a man and girl at Biggenden.

Operation Uniform Belisama will investigate the deaths of what is believed to be a father and daughter who died in a shed fire before Christmas.

Officers were called to reports of a fire at the Fenwicks Road property at around 12.20pm on Tuesday, 20 December with preliminary investigations identifying human remains in the shed.

Investigators believe the remains to be that of 54-year-old Todd Mooney and his 10-year-old daughter Kirra, who resided at the property.

A crime scene was declared and following scientific examination, investigators believe the fire to be deliberately lit.

State Emergency Service volunteers attended the scene on Thursday, 29 December to conduct a search on a neighbouring paddock while detectives continue their enquiries.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage in the area at the time is urged to contact police.
