South Burnett Peace of Mind update

South Burnett Peace of Mind is starting the new year by establishing weekly drop-in centres around the South Burnett. The drop-in centres will provide a whole range of activities and learning opportunities as well as a space where people can receive help. Come and chill and enjoy lunch as well as tea, coffee and milo. Takeaway meals are available.

These include:

• Murgon Town Hall and Wondai Town Hall on alternate Mondays 10am-5pm

• Kingaroy Town Hall Supper Room on Thursdays 10am-6pm

• Nanango Cultural Centre on Thursdays 1pm-8pm

How we can help:

We can fill out forms, help you reapply for NDIS or with job applications. We can help you get integrated into the community, give you referrals, a counsellor comes twice a week.

Ballroom dancing and Tau Chi for all. Wheelchair ballroom dancing and wheelchair zumba and fitness classes.

Craft activities:

Painting, fridge magnet making, bracelets made out of crystals, keyrings with crystals, money purses with a zip and beads, candle making, dream-catcher making, mosaic ornaments made out of plaster of paris, lead lighting, jam making, wood burning, soap making and carving. Oil making, scapbook making, macrame making and t-shirt dyeing.

Learning:

Basic computer skills, healthy cooking, writing resume, basic floristry, budgeting, learning guitar or keyboard and games

Fun:

Karaoke nights, game nights and movie nights

Groups:

Computers, business, library, astronomy, electronics, health, women, men, children, young adutls, female domestic violence, male domestic violence, children helpline etc. inventions, books, marketing, research, life and living skills, printing, funding, sports, games, cooking, anxiety, online games, exercise, history, parenting, music, helping hands, depressed, anger helpline, isolated, forgetten Australians, PTSD, Stolen Generation
