Storms expected across Burnett

Residents of the Burnett region have been asked to prepare for a severe thunderstorm in the area today, 27 January.

According to a warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology at approximately 9am this morning, severe thunderstorms are likely across southeastern Queensland, including sections of the Wide Bay-Burnett region.

Towns impacted by the warning include Kingaroy, Wondai and Murgon in the South Burnett, with towns like Gayndah in the North Burnett also placed on alert for potential wet weather.

The Bureau warns that the severe thunderstorms may result in heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hail.
