Service, sporting and community groups are being encouraged to apply for the latest round of the Stronger Communities Program.
The Australian Government grant has opened up for expression of interest from groups to apply for round 8 of the program.
Round 8 of the Stronger Communities Program aims to support communities in recovering from the widespread impacts of adverse weather events and current economic pressures.
Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien shared that up to $150,000 in total was available for eligible projects in the Wide Bay electorate.
“Incorporated not-for-profit and other eligible organisations are invited to submit an EOI for small capital projects that create social benefits for the community,” Mr O’Brien said.
“This is a great opportunity for Wide Bay’s service, sporting, and community groups to apply for a grant of between $2,500 and $20,000 to purchase equipment or undertake a small capital project that will help strengthen the community.“
In round 8, applicants can request up to 100 per cent of eligible project costs and local governing bodies can apply for the grant to cover up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs.
Maranoa MP David Littleproud also encouraged Maranoa groups to apply for Stronger Communities Program round 8.
“Regional, rural and remote communities are the heart of this nation and I want to make sure our Maranoa communities get their fair share of this funding,” Mr Littleproud said.
“Funding is available for small capital projects which encourage community participation and contribute to our vibrant communities – this could include upgrading the local community hall, installing seating, goal posts or lights at a sporting field, building playgrounds or community gardens, or purchasing essential equipment for emergency services.
“This funding injection will support up to 20 projects across the Maranoa electorate, delivering an economic boost to our communities and supporting local jobs.“
Expressions of interest close on 10 March 2023.
A local committee will assess the EOIs and then invited applicants will proceed to the formal application stage which must be completed and lodged by 26 April 2023.
Wide Bay applicants are encouraged to contact Mr O’Brien’s office on 4121 2936 or the Wide Bay Burnett Regional Development Australia Committees via www.rda.gov.au
