GALLERY: Golf challenge for mental health

Looking after our social and emotional wellbeing is as important as keeping our body healthy.

Saturday, 17 June saw the fourth round of the Mental Health Golf Challenge played at the Wondai Golf Course.

More than 30 players registered, with 10 teams battling out to secure their place in the top 3 at the end of the day. A random draw will secure the fourth team to play at the grand final in Kingaroy.

Clinton Stretton from Ryans Butchery, who was a sponsor on the day, said, “You couldn’t ask for better weather for a day of golf”.

Gavin Jones said, “So proud to have all the golf clubs in our region support this Mental Health Golf Challenge as each and every one without hesitation have jumped onboard”.

He also thanked everyone who was there on the day and a showed appreciation to the Wondai Golf Club for their support.

Cr Jones also went to add, “We set a goal of $50,000 and as we currently sit here talking to you now today, we have $45,000 already so our $50,000 will be achieved easily with all thanks to the people that come along to support”.

Cr Scott Henschen said, “Red Earth is handling all the funds and they let us know how we are tracking”.

Cr Jones also said, “We have three more rounds to go with Kingaroy scheduled for the 8 July, Nanango for the 19 August, Murgon for the 30 September and the Grand Final day at the Kingaroy Golf Club on the 14 October”.

The Wondai Mental Health Golf Challenge was sponsored by local businesses Parkside Sawmill, Hobbs and Associates, Astill’s Electrical and Ryans Butchery.
