An ‘avoid smoke’ alert has been issued for the Ban Ban Springs area this afternoon.

Smoke is currently affecting Ban Ban Springs and surrounding areas -this is from a fire burning near Brian Pastures Research Station.

There are no properties at risk currently, but some roads may be closed.

Smoke can make it hard to see when you are driving and can make it hard for some people to breathe.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:

– Stay inside and close windows and doors.

– Keep respiratory medication close by.

– Follow your bushfire survival plan now. If you do not have a bushfire survival plan, make one on the QFES website.

– Avoid driving through smoke if you can.

– Watch out for firefighters working in the area.

– Do not fly drones around the fire or in the warning area. This can block air operations.

Impacted suburbs include: Ban Ban (4625), Ban Ban Springs (4625), Campbell Creek (4625), Coalstoun Lakes (4621), Ginoondan (4625), Penwhaupell (4625)
