A man has died in a single-vehicle crash at Barambah south of Goomeri this morning.
A spokesperson for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services reported that, at around 2:20am on Thursday 31 August, first responders were called out to a crash on the intersection of the Burnett Highway and Kilcoy Murgon Road.
On arriving, the five attending QFES crews found a prime mover and trailer had left the road and rolled down a nearby gully, with its driver and sole occupant, an as-of-yet unidentified man, entrapped inside.
Firefighters closed both sides of the highway as they moved to free the man, with Queensland Police Service and Queensland Ambulance Service crews also attending the crash.
A QPS report on the crash stated that the truck was carrying farm produce and heading south along the Burnett Highway, when for currently unknown reasons it left the road some time before 2am.
The report further stated that the man driving the truck had died before the arrival of first responders.
QPS and QFES crews remained at the scene to direct recovery efforts and traffic, with firefighters leaving at around 10am.
The Queensland Police Service’s Forensic Crash Unit is currently investigating the cause of the crash, as well as trying to identify the deceased driver.
Police have called on any members of the public with information or footage around the time and location of the crash to come forward.
