A night to remember for cheap

The Salvation Army Second Hand Store is holding a Formal Night on Thursday 28 September from 4pm to 7pm.

With low prices for formal dresses and suits from $20 each, as well as a wide range of accessories and shoes all for affordable prices.

Matthew Wallace, the store manager of the Kingaroy store is one of the people in charge of organizing this night.

“With the cost of living, and everyone is affected by this, this is an opportunity to help families with low-cost formal dresses and gear,” he said.

“Formal is a huge milestone for kids, and if there is a chance to help relieve the financial burden, this sort of event would be beneficial for many.”

The night is designed to help those struggling financially, with everything needed for formal from shoes and accessories to dresses, suits and ties. There is sure to be something for someone.

Due to the generous donations the store receives, all good quality items, the night has two intended outcomes.

The first, to provide the community with a cheap option for formal wear and accessories for those who are doing it tough. The second, is to let the community know the quality of items an op shop can provide.

“If there is a good turn out this year,” said Matthew, “then we will hold the event earlier in the year should it be run again, so that no one misses out.”

“This sort of event doesn’t just help people preparing for formal for this year, but it can allow people to prepare for next year as well.

“All the money raised in store is reimbursed into the community, either by helping the homeless or less fortunate to creating food hampers.”

All donations are welcomed at the Salvation Army, so that they can continue to help the community.
