Storm threatens the region

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued another severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the Burnett today, calling on residents of the region to stay alert.

At 3:01pm today, Wednesday 29 November, the Bureau warned of changing weather patterns in western parts of the North and South Burnett regions, as well as the Darling Downs and Western Downs.

According to the warning, a surface trough and upper disturbance have combined in the area, and are now poised to result in severe thunderstorms across South East Queensland.

The Bureau warned that the storms could result in large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rain in the area.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advise that people should prepare for the storm.

Residents of the affected area are urged to move their cars under cover and away from trees, secure any other loose outdoor items like furniture, and remain indoors.

In the event of a storm, QFES advise to avoid using telephones, and steer clear of fallen trees and powerlines.

For emergency assistance, contact the State Emergency Services on 132 500.
