The Bureau of Meteorology has today issued the third severe storm warning for the Burnett this week, warning residents of the region of yet another helping of rain, wind and potential hail.
The storm on Friday, 1 December is said to affect parts of the Wide Bay-Burnett, Maranoa, Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts, stretching from as far north as Wondai in the South Burnett down to the Queensland-New South Wales border in the south.
A Bureau spokesperson warned residents of the South Burnett that severe thunderstorms, damaging winds and large hail are likely this evening, as surface and upper troughs clash with unstable, high-moisture air to produce the downpour.
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have also raised alarm over the severity of the storm, urging those in affected areas to remain indoors or seek other shelter, and steer clear of trees, debris and fallen powerlines.
For emergency assistance contact the State Emergency Service on 132 500.
