After serving as the Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary Inc. treasurer for seven years, Peter Mortimer will be leaving the role as he is moving away.

Auxiliary president Alison Murray said the Auxiliary was grateful for Peter’s support and assistance over the years, particularly when the hospital canteen building was moved to Kingaroy Airport.

“Peter has overseen the sale of surplus auxiliary assets due to the canteen’s move and helped manage the vending machine between 2021 and 2023 at Kingaroy Hospital.”

In 2023, the Auxiliary donated $16,000 to Kingaroy Hospital, which enabled the hospital to purchase five theatre recovery chairs and a Urocap IV Flowmeter.

Having a recline function on the new recovery chairs has been welcomed by patients, as they are now more comfortable after surgery. The Urocap IV Flowmeter is a first for the hospital and will assist urologists provide more personalised care to patients.

Auxiliary member and former canteen convenor, David Morton, said the Auxiliary was looking for new members following Peter’s departure and the retirement of auxiliary members when the canteen closed.

“We need at least seven members who can attend meetings and assist with fundraising efforts so that we can continue supporting the hospital.”

The Auxiliary’s annual general meeting will be held at 3.30pm on 1 February and David and Alison would be delighted to welcome new members.
