A forced power outage by Ergon north of Blackbutt this afternoon has left over a hundred South Burnett residents without electricity.

A spokesperson for the power company confirmed that the outage affecting around 120 people along Benarkin, Blackbutt, Taromeo and Teelah was caused by Ergon Energy crews at 12:11pm today, Wednesday 7 February.

The outage affects residents of Bowmans Road, Cameron Road, Pamela Drive, Old Esk Road, Scott Close, Stretton Drive and Wild Deer Drive.

Ergon’s spokesperson said that a broken power pole crossarm in the area needed to be repaired, making the outage necessary for the company’s crews to perform the maintenance.

“This is work that could not be safely carried out if the section of the network was left energised,” the spokesperson explained.

Ergon could not give a time frame for the restoration of power to the area.
