Unlocking pathways at the 2024 South Burnett Careers Market

The 2024 South Burnett Careers Market is set to be bigger than ever, with more than 30 organisations and training providers participating in the interactive event at TAFE Queensland’s Kingaroy campus on Thursday 25 July from 8.30am to 3pm.

Designed for members of the community and senior school students, attendees can discuss job prospects with employers and explore courses with training organisation representatives.

TAFE Queensland Acting General Manager of the South West Region, Tony Kruger, emphasised that all members of the community are welcome to attend this free event.

“The South Burnett Region is continuing to experience job growth across a range of industries — from the traditional trades, food and meat processing to hospitality,” said Mr Kruger.

“This event is a great opportunity to chat with local employers about job opportunities. You can also tour the facilities and workshops at the Kingaroy campus, meet with our experienced trainers and get involved in hands-on career activities.”

“At TAFE Queensland, we’re committed to providing South Burnett residents with the high quality, hands-on training they need to succeed in their chosen career.”

Find out more about Fee-Free TAFE, with industry-recognised courses in high-priority areas including commercial cookery, agriculture, community services and electrotechnology available to study at your local TAFE Queensland campus.

Among the wide range of organisations participating will be the team from SunPork Fresh Foods to discuss job opportunities and serve their famous pork sliders. Representatives from the South Burnett Regional Council will be on hand to talk about local traineeships and careers in local government, while emergency services staff members from the Queensland Police, Fire and Ambulance Services will be available, with their four-legged Stock Squad also making an appearance.

A new feature of the event this year will see recruitment experts sharing their top tips during engaging presentations, topics such including how to create stand-out resumes and cover letters, job interview recommendations and how to apply for apprenticeships or traineeships.

The Bunnings team will be on-site cooking a free BBQ sausage sizzle for all attendees. Whanau Kai will be selling coffee and snack foods, with every dollar raised donated to a local charity.
