Jo Hassan is passionate about checking in with her community to see if they are ok.
The dedicated R U Ok Day Ambassador had a busy few weeks in the lead-up to and around R U Ok Day on Thursday, 12 September.
She reinforced this year’s theme that it is important we ask R U Ok? Any Day because life happens every day, it does not have to be limited to just one day.
“Reach out to show you care because a conversation could change and save a life,” Jo said.
As a R U Ok Day Community Ambassador, Jo made sure she attended the region’s various R U OK Day events including Nanango’s barbecue to Kingaroy’s breakfast.
She also ran library information sessions discussing tips on asking ‘R U Ok’ at Nanango last Thursday and at Kingaroy last Friday.
Jo plans to visit the region’s other libraries over the next few months to run similar sessions.
She also shared her message with some of the schools including Kingaroy State High School, Men’s Sheds and Senior Citizens groups.
Jo only moved to the South Burnett region 18 months ago, and before long got involved in the South Burnett Suicide Prevention Working Group.
However, she has been a volunteer ambassador for R U Ok Day for the past six years.
Jo encourages the community to remember ALEC as a guide to have an R U Ok Conversation?
