Firefighters have been tasked to Wyalla for the second time this week as yet another large grass fire has broken out in the locality north of Nanango.
A spokesperson for the Queensland Fire Department said around eight Rural Fire Service crews were working to extinguish a vegetation fire near Manumbar Road and Scotts Lane in Wyalla, with the first firefighters arriving around 2:45pm on Wednesday, 25 September.
The QFD were unable to comment on where the fire originally started, but stated that as of 3:50pm the flames had made their way to Manumbar Road proper.
The road was not closed to traffic at time of writing.
No properties are at risk as a result of the fire, and firefighters on scene are conducting backburning operations to contain the blaze.
The QFD have issued a smoke warning for residents around Wyalla, asking locals to remain inside their homes and keep windows and doors closed.
Affected residents are urged to follow their bushfire survival plan and visit fire.qld.gov.au/Current-Incidents for any updates to the situation.
On Monday this week, firefighters also attended the locality of Wyalla to respond to a large-scale grass fire, which quickly grew to around 40 hectares in size.
The QFD tasked a helicopter and heavy machinery to the scene to provide air support and ground clearing capabilities respectively.
