See U16s Aussie Champs

Come along and see Australia’s best teenage speedway drivers in Kingaroy.

This weekend Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be hosting the Australian under-16 125cc Speedway Championships.

There will be free entry for spectators on both days at the Kingaroy Showgrounds, with racing from 11am and finishing up around 3pm.

“Come along, sit in the stands and watch some absolutely top notch racing,” Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club Secretary Tracey Tunstall said.

On Saturday, 28 September 15 riders will contest the U16s 125cc Championships for solo crown, with the younger Kingaroy club peewee riders doing demonstrations in between races.

The following day, Sunday 29 September, 14 competitors, including four teams of Queenslanders will fight for the Best Pairs title.

Tunstall said these riders would be coming from Queensland, NSW, South Australia and Victoria.

“Come and watch some of the top under-16 riders on a 125cc speedway bike, with no brakes or gears,” she said.

The 2023 champion Ky Mitchell will be returning to keep his under-16 solo title on Saturday, and will be joined by Corey Van Elswyk to defend the pairs title on Sunday.

“It’s a top notch event, it’s the Australian championship -come and watch these kids at their very best,” Tunstall said.

The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club is honoured to host the Australian championships.

“We’re pretty honoured that we’re getting to host this, we’re a small sporting club,” she said.

Keep up to date with the latest updates on the championships via the Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club Facebook page.
