See the iconic Bunyas on canvas in an immersive art exhibition this weekend.
Renowned Australian environmental artist Frida Forsberg will unveil her Art of the Forest collection of more than 20 paintings this weekend, which are inspired by the unique beauty of the Bunya Mountains.
Ms Forsberg’s work will be displayed in a way that brings the gallery to the forest, transforming the mountains into an immersive, outdoor gallery.
The original vision for the exhibition was to host it in a community space at the Bunya Mountains, however the exhibition will be held under a large marque as there are no spaces large enough to accomodate the art collection.
This is thanks to generous support from South Burnett Regional Council, the Bunya Mountains Community Association and the Bunya Accomodation Centre, and other businesses.
“This is the perfect outcome,” Ms Forsberg said.
“The mountains themselves have become our gallery, and being outdoors with the forest and wildlife close by brings the exhibition to life in a way no indoor space could.”
Ms Forsberg further expressed that “without the generous backing of the local community, this exhibition simply wouldn’t have been possible”.
The artist is dedicated to protecting Australia’s wild places and has captured the unique beauty of the Bunya’s national park trails and bushwalks.
The Art of the Forest exhibition is a free event for all ages, featuring works from local guest artists alongside Ms Forsberg’s collection.
The exhibition will be open all weekend from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, 23 November and Sunday, 24 November at the Bunya Accomodation Centre grounds at Bunya Avenue.
The collection will be officially opened on Sunday at 11am.
Acrylic landscape painting and traditional basket weaving workshops will be held on Saturday. All ages and skill levels are welcome and materials are provided -booking is essential, contact bunyamcainc@gmail.com
