Are you concerned about the recent storm events? Looking for ways to protect your home from unexpected flash flooding?
Following requests from residents seeking sandbags to prepare for potential storm events, South Burnett Regional Council Mayor Kathy Duff and Councillors will be working and partnering with the SES this Saturday, 11 January, to fill and prepare sandbags for residents to use as they see fit.
Between 8am and 12noon, Councillors and the Mayor will be filling sandbags at the Kingaroy SES Depot at 5 Glendon Street.
“I am pleased to see that residents are taking steps to be disaster ready and planning ahead,” Mayor Duff said.
Members of the community are welcomed and encouraged to come along and pick up sandbags, or delivery may be available if residents prearrange.
Mayor Duff hopes to leave about 100 extra sandbags for the SES to reserve for future events.
“I am grateful to have my fellow Councillors and volunteers already stepping up to provide assistance,” Mayor Duff said.
“The SES do an amazing job in our community, and they work tirelessly, particularly in disasters to keep the community safe.”
