Elderly couple assaulted in burglary

An elderly Murgon couple had to be transported to hospital after they were allegedly assaulted by intruders in a Wednesday night home invasion.

Queensland Police Service officers are appealing to the public for information after an alleged break-and-enter in Murgon on Wednesday evening, 15 January.

Police allege that around 10.20pm, three people approached a Wallace Street property and attempted to access two vehicles parked in the carport.

The three people then entered into the house, allegedly making verbal threats to the two elderly residents inside.

Police will allege the intruders then assaulted the couple.

An 80-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The three alleged intruders fled the scene on foot before police arrived.

QPS investigators are asking any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV vision to come forward.

Contact Policelink on 131 444 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
