Services to assist storm clean-up

This weekend some South Burnett residents will be cleaning up the damage from the recent storms.

South Burnett Regional Council has extended the opening hours for the waste facility at Wondai and organised an extra kerbside waste collection.

WONDAI WASTE FACILITY

The Wondai Waste Facility will be open for longer hours this weekend to assist residents with the storm clean-up.

South Burnett Regional Council advised that due to the Thursday, 9 January storm at Wondai, the Wondai Waste Facility will be open from 8am to 5pm on Saturday, 18 and Sunday, 19 January.

This arrangement will be temporary to assist the Wondai community and will return to the regular operating hours of 1-5pm effective from Monday 20 January 2025.

For any enquiries, contact the Council’s Waste Department on 07 4189 9100 or email info@sbrc.qld.gov.au

EXTRA KERBSIDE COLLECTIONS

The Council has arranged for extra kerbside collections next week for the green waste caused by the recent storm events at Kingaroy and Wondai.

These green kerbside collections will be strictly limited to green waste resulting from the specific storm events.

The waste must originate from the immediate vicinity of the home and be necessary to address property access issues or to make the home safe, habitable, and accessible.

This extra service is provided through the the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, which supports the kerbside collection of disaster-related vegetation impacting homes and access to residential properties.

The green waste must be presented on the kerb for collection.

It will be available in Kingaroy from Monday, 20 January, for only green waste from the 13 January storm event.

It service will run in Wondai from Monday, 20 January for only green waste from the 9 January storm event.

Any residents wanting access to sandbags for future flood events can contact the Kingaroy SES:
