* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.

* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.

EARLIER: A very dangerous thunderstorm has been predicted to develop southwest of the South Burnett region.

The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted a storm is likely this afternoon, including damaging, locally destructive winds, large, possibly giant hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.

The storm may affect parts of the Burnett region such as Yarraman and Durong, with the potential for the storm to continue in the Burnett direction.

Meteorologists reported that a moist and unstable airmass to the east of a trough has been observed, which will aid in the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
