The South Burnett Parkinson’s Support Group meeting was held at Graham House in Murgon at 10am on Monday, 24 February.

Carmen opened the meeting at 10.15am and welcomed 19 attendees to the first meeting for the new year of 2025. Apologies were received from Phenella, Darryl, Bev and Bill.

The first little task was for each of us to offer a compliment to the person sitting to the right. This was a great way to get things going and brought a fair bit of laughter.

Next, Carmen handed out a questionnaire for everyone to write down their “coolest” holiday destination.

There were two winners with Kerry and Lena both stating that Cairns was the holiday destination of their choice.

The prize for this was one of Carmen’s lovely recently created ‘Flow Art’ paintings.

Carmen then talked about her burgeoning interest in Flow Art and showed the group several pieces of her work.

Discussion also took place on the various forms of Flow Art.

Julie read her railway holiday story based in Scotland in 1974.

Kerry led a discussion on arthritic leg pain caused by the spine.

Ancy told the group about all of the activities she’s involved with at Orana Nursing Home. She also talked about ‘Gordon’ the visiting lizard.

Ron talked briefly about the enjoyment he gets from the parkruns he’s involved with.

The next meeting for the Parkinson’s Support Group which will be a social one, will be held on Monday, 31 March 2025 at the Murgon Services Club.

Each person attending will buy their own morning tea.

A decision was made to hold the April meeting on Tuesday the 22nd along with the Cancer Support Group at the Uniting Church Hall, 55 Gore Street, Murgon.

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month and more information on this meeting will be provided at a later date.
