Workshop for changemakers

Kingaroy Changemaker workshops are set to empower local action to local challenges.

The popular and impactful Changemaker Workshop, which is facilitated by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, is set to be hosted in Kingaroy on Tuesday, 29 April and Wednesday, 30 April.

The two day workshop is designed for individuals who want to play an active role in the Burnett inland region and contribute to positive change.

The workshop aims to foster self awareness, community engagement, resilience, leadership skills, and the ability to create positive change while considering diverse perspectives and community wellbeing.

It is open to individuals who have a strong desire to drive meaningful change within their community, an interest in finding innovative solutions for complex challenges, a commitment to exploring new approaches for building a thriving community, and an interest in driving local action.

Over the course of the workshop, participants will come away with the knowledge and tools to assist with a wide range of situations.

The participants will learn to understand change, where they will be able to assess the region’s readiness for change, explore how change happens and how to overcome resistance and learn what it takes to be a positive change agent, how to manage setbacks and work creatively with others.

They will learn how to start community conversations to understand the local ecosystem in order to undertake purposeful and inclusive engagement and learn how to have robust, authentic conversations and build transparency for connection and diverse relationships.

Participants will learn about caring for the community, to unpack what forms and shapes a community and learn how a community can be more inclusive.

Participants will also learn about sharing the community’s future, how to explore ideas to shape the future, understand the importance of language and the power of storytelling in motivating and mobilising others, and learn what makes a good story and how to connect with the hearts and minds of others.

“The Australian Rural Leadership Foundation is dedicated to building thriving rural, regional and remote communities,” ARLF Chief Executive Matt Linnegar said.

“Over the past three years, we have run leadership programs in over 25 communities across the country, building local leadership capacity and networks to bring new understanding, perspective and skills to move forward,” he said.

The Changemaker Workshop is funded by the Future Drought Fund and delivered by the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation in partnership with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal and the Red Earth Community Foundation.
