Parkinson’s disease is a chronic, progressive disease for which there is no cure.

It is a neurological condition which affects movement, and can cause debilitating issues such as depression, sleep problems, tremor, rigidity etc.

Parkinson’s disease is becoming more prevalent and it does not discriminate, people of any age can develop this life changing condition.

The local Parkinson’s group is made up of a friendly lot of people with Parkinson’s, carers and supporters.

There is no fee to join the local support group which meets on the last Monday of each month and the community is welcome to attend.

The next meeting of the group will be held on Tuesday, 22 April at the Uniting Church Hall, 55 Gore Street, Murgon, commencing 10am.

This meeting will be held in conjunction with the Cancer Support Group and everyone is asked to please bring some morning tea to share.

As April is the Parkinson’s Awareness month attendees are asked to wear purple in recognition of this important occasion.

Also, Tuesday 29th April Graham House will be holding its monthly morning tea and will be promoting Parkinson’s Disease and the local Support Group.

People wishing to attend need to phone Graham House for this event as the seats available are restricted.
