On Saturday, 26 April an Anzac morning tea was held at Murgon’s 55 Million Years Ago Art Gallery from 10am until 12 midday.
This great event attracted an enthusiastic crowd numbering 36 in total.
Volunteers worked tirelessly in providing plates of delicious sandwiches, sausage rolls, lamingtons, mini pavlovas and Anzac biscuits.
Tea and coffee were also available and the tables were elegantly set with linen cloths and fine china.
The 1st prize winner for the ANZAC Art Competition was Robyn Dower who received $300 cash for her painting ‘In Their Honour’.
The 2nd prize winner was Shannus O’Sullivan for his work ‘The Dug Out At Lone Pine’ and he received $200 cash and the 3rd prize winner was Sue Lederhose and she received $100 cash with her painting ‘Remember Them’.
The winner for the People’s Choice Award was K C Murray for her piece titled ‘Service of Excellence’ and her prize was a $20 Lightning Tree Wines voucher.
Raffle prize winners were Ingrid Gearing for the first prize of art supplies valued at $200 and a $20 Lightning Tree Wines voucher.
Mary Mitchell won second prize of a $50 Moffatdale Ridge Wines voucher and a $50 Services Club voucher.
Third prize was won by Sharon E and she received a $50 Services Club voucher.
Two other winners in the best dressed category were Janette Thorne and Robert Donnelly who each received a $25 gift voucher donated by the Australian Hotel.
In a speech given by Leo Geraghty, congratulations and thanks were offered to all the artists for their beautiful art works. Leo also extended sincere thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work, contributing to the great success of the morning tea.
Terry Blackburn made a speech thanking artists and sponsors. Mayor Kathy Duff congratulated the members and volunteers.
