The community are invited to visit Proston’s very first ‘Emergency Lane’ and cheer on the Bike 4 Burns crew.
A fun family afternoon of informative displays will be set up at the Proston Fire Station from 4pm to 5.30pm.
It will be an opportunity to learn about emergency services, as well as how to prepare for extreme weather events and disasters.
The Emergency Lane event will coincide with the charity ride Bike 4 Burns which will be raising funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation, ensuring children with burns have access to the best possible care and treatment.
This year’s ride – Rail Trail Express – will start in Eidsvold on Tuesday, 13 May, and finish at the Brisbane Emergency Services Complex in Kedron on Monday, 19 May.
By Wednesday, 14 May the Bike 4 Burns group will be arriving in Proston, and the Emergency Lane event has been created to allow the community to show their support.
The charity ride will cover more than 500 kilometres over seven days on a journey through Eidsvold, Gayndah, Proston, Kingaroy, Yarraman, Toogoolawah, Wulkuraka and finishing in Kedron.
The Emergency Lane is a collaboration between the emergency services, the South Burnett Regional Council and its Local Government Disaster Management team, aimed at providing the community with a better understanding of the four pillars of emergency management such as prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
