Police have declared two crime scenes, but have not yet charged anyone, as investigations into missing 17-year-old girl Pheobe Bishop, who had been living in Gin Gin, continue.

The 17-year-old Bundaberg girl was last seen at Airport Dr, Bundaberg around 8.30am on Thursday, 15 May. She did not check in for a booked flight and has not been seen or heard from since.

A property in Gin Gin, where Pheobe was living prior to her disappearance, and a grey Hyundai ix35 believed to be the car Pheobe travelled to Airport Dr in, have been declared crime scenes and police have seized the car.

Police provided an update on Thursday, 22 May, confirming that the Gin Gin property and the grey Hyundai remained active crime scenes.

“Currently, no one is in custody in relation to this investigation however police continue to speak to people who know Pheobe,” the Queensland Police Service spokesperson reported.

Police are continuing to appeal to the public and any businesses located near the airport for dashcam and CCTV footage of the grey Hyundai ix35 with Queensland registration 414EW3 near the Airport Dr and Samuels Rd area in Bundaberg, and also the Gin Gin area on 15 May.

Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson shared public information was vital in piecing together Pheobe’s movements.

“You may have the small piece of information that leads us to finding Pheobe,” Detective Acting Inspector Thompson said.

“People don’t vanish – someone knows something and we’re urging anyone with information to contact police immediately.”

Investigations are ongoing and her disappearance is now being treated as suspicious.

It is believed Pheobe was due to board a flight to Brisbane and then on to Western Australia to visit a friend, however she never entered the airport terminal.

On Tuesday 20 May Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson told media that Miss Bishop had been dropped at Airport Dr by associates, however police were still reviewing CCTV footage to ascertain how she travelled there and if she ever arrived at the airport.

“Police are conducting inquiries with the airport and CCTV footage to try and narrow down her movements from when she was last seen,” Detective Acting Inspector Thompson said.

Det. Act. Insp. Thompson revealed that Pheobe was living with friends at the Gin Gin location and that the seized car belonged to one of those residents.

Questions about the investigation’s findings, such as whether or not Pheobe was arguing with the driver of the ix35 and was kicked out, as well as alleged blood and dead dogs being located at the Gin Gin property where Pheobe was living, were not confirmed.

“That’s purely speculation at this point,” Det. Act. Insp. Thompson said about blood being found at the house.

Regarding the dead dogs, he said, “I can’t confirm that and that’s not something that I’m aware of”.

“Just because we are deeming this suspicious does not mean that we are investigating that anything sinister has happened.”

Anyone with information regarding Pheobe’s whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately.

Pheobe is described as approximately 180cm, pale complexion, long dyed red hair, and hazel eyes.

She was last seen carrying luggage and wearing a green tank top and grey sweatpants.

Pheobe’s mother Kylie Johnson said her daughter would never willingly leave her family.

“If you knew Pheobe you would know that she is free spirited and loves hard,” Kylie said.

“She is loyal to the core and… she would never leave her family without contact.

“We as a family are honestly so humbled by the community support, the sharing, the offers of assistance and the love. This is what’s keeping us going.

“[There’s been] no contact or social media presence since Thursday morning. No bank transactions since Wednesday.

“Flea Flea my heart tells me that you won’t see this but I love you more than anything in the world and I would be homeless just to hear you say ‘Hey Mummzie what’s doing’… I would honestly sell my soul to hear those words.”

Kylie thanked the Queensland Police Service and her family and friends for conducting searches of the area where Pheobe was last seen.

“As we enter another day with Pheobe still missing our hearts are breaking more and more,” Kylie said on her Facebook page on Wednesday morning.

“I’m begging anyone that has anything to contact Police link 131 444.

“We as a family are thankful for the message of support and offers of assistance.

“Right now we are grasping onto hope and just trying to breathe. Again all anyone can do to help is – keep sharing Pheobe’s flyer.

“Follow the Queensland Police for updates and requests for information. Keep having conversations with your loved ones, community and colleagues.
