The Nanango SES Group welcomed a new vehicle last month, marking an exciting new milestone for the South Burnett SES Unit.
The Nanango SES retired its aging fleet vehicle, a SES 2009 Colorado, and replaced it with a more modern, highly capable response vehicle.
The upgrade, which was presented on 12 May, was funded through the Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
The new vehicle will improve local response efforts for various emergency and disaster events such as floods, storms and bushfires.
“We are grateful to our SES volunteers and are excited that they have received a vehicle fitted out with all the bells and whistles to provide effective operational responses during emergencies and natural disasters,” Nanango Cr Jane Erkens said.
Community members are encouraged to consider becoming a SES volunteer.
Interested individuals are invited to attend SES training sessions held every Monday night at 7pm to learn about SES operations and explore volunteer opportunities.
The benefits of joining the SES include acquiring new skills, forming friendships, gaining qualifications, serving the community and being part of a team. Visit: ses.qld.gov.au/join-us for more details.
