South Burnett CTC were recently proud to acknowledge an incredibly generous $15,500 donation from the Grand Lodge of Queensland R.A.O.B. which was presented during a visit earlier this month to CTC’s social enterprise, The Gumnut Place in Murgon.
Lodge representatives Bruce McAndrew and Trevor Sanderson met with Gumnut staff who gave them a tour of the site.
The Gumnut Place is operated by South Burnett CTC and provides supported employment for people living with a disability through commercial kitchen services, woodworking, engraving, laundry and secure document destruction.
CTC CEO Jason Erbacher acknowledged the donation was an example of community-led generosity.
“This gift shows the strength of what happens when local and statewide groups invest back into the community,” he said.
“The Grand Lodge of Queensland, Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes has demonstrated how giving back can create real, lasting opportunities for people who deserve the chance to thrive.”
The Gumnut Place manager Lizz Geppert shared the donation would help upgrade crucial equipment.
“We will be able to purchase new kitchen appliances and upgrade our engraving software, which directly supports our supported employees and improves our efficiency,” she said.
“It’s a huge boost that we are very grateful for.”
The Grand Lodge of Queensland is a not-for-profit men’s organisation with a long history of supporting charitable causes. The Murgon Chapter meets monthly in Wondai and warmly welcomes fellow members from across Australia and the world.
