The South Burnett’s Kerrie Le Du and Allen Christensen are counting down the days before their Phantom Team hits the road as part of the 2025 Queensland Variety Bash.

The Variety Queensland’s highly anticipated fundraiser will set off from St George on 3 August.

It is a fully supported motoring event, unique in that it both raises funds for children in need and distributes grants along the way.

The Variety Bash also pumps much needed funds into the regional areas it visits through the purchase of fuel, supplies, catering and accomodation.

The Phantom ‘car 47’ has proudly participated in the fundraiser for the Variety children’s charity for the past eight years.

“[It’s] more than just a road trip – it’s a mission to bring joy, support, and opportunities to children who deserve so much more than life has handed them,” Phantom team member Kerrie said.

Their vehicle, the new Phantom Lounge (car 47) is a modified Chevrolet Astro Van.

The car’s decorations are inspired by the Phantom comic book character, is painted the iconic Phantom purple and has a signature bust of the Phantom named ‘PhanFare’ mounted on the roof.

The team, Kerrie and Allen, are looking forward to distributing Phantom-themed showbags to kids during the trip while they raise crucial funds for children who are sick, disadvantaged or living with disabilities.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Variety who has distributed more than $700 million to support Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or living with a disability.

The highlight of this anniversary will be the staging the first ‘National’ Variety Bash in 10 years, where every Variety route will meet in Adelaide to acknowledge the collective achievement.

Variety Queensland will travel from St George to Adelaide via Brewarrina, White Cliffs and Wentworth. The return trip home will take the Variety Bash from Adelaide to Port Macquarie via Nhill, Deniliquin, Parkes and Tamworth.
