New leaders for Kingaroy Lions

Last week the Kingaroy Lions Club held its 60th annual change over of office bearers.

Outgoing president Chris Robins thanked the club for all their work during the last 12 months and congratulated incoming president Leonie Mac Farlane and her new board members.

Out going President Chris presented a few awards during the evening with Lion Malcolm Clifford being awarded a JD Richardson award and Lion Julie Clifford and Lion Glenda Hoffman being awarded Ian Fraser awards.

The club also inducted new member Daryl Stark, who will be a worthy addition to our club.

During the last 12 months the club has been able to disperse over $25,000 to the local community and also beyond to national and international causes.

We are happy to support causes like the Alliance dinners, held weekly, NAIDOC week, and BaconFest.

We run a yearly Youth of the Year competition, which is very popular.

Locally the club donated to causes like the South Burnett Pantry $5000, CTC $2000, and supported the breakfast clubs at the local schools, as well as speech night and events like the Kingaroy Eistedford.

Outside of the area we have supported the Queensland flood appeal and Cyclone Alfred appeal.

We also continue to support great causes like $1000 LifeFlight and the $1000 RFDS and $3000 for medical research into things like Parkinson disease, Prostate cancer eye health and Operation Smile, which is a Lions project which helps children with facial deformities in developing countries.

As a club we also support our local businesses and have spent nearly $25,000 in the local community in the past 12 months.

We would like to thank the local community for your support over the last 12 months, we are only able to help others through your generous support.
